BETHLEHEM, Pa. –(BUSINESS WIRE)– Today, Orbweaver LLC, a leading provider of digital supply chain integration solutions for electronic components, announces its sponsorship of Crimson Racing, a student team established through The University of Alabama’s College of Engineering that designs and manufactures a formula-style race car from scratch. Orbweaver, a facilitator of real-time data connectivity and sales automation in the electronics industry, supports the application of classroom knowledge to drive technical advancements and opportunities to engage future professionals in the industry.
“Supporting these programs helps define our future as an industry.”
“Racing and motor sports innovators are always pushing the envelope with electronic and mechanical engineering advancements,” says Tony Powell, CTO of Orbweaver LLC, and Formula One enthusiast. “Crimson Racing provides a unique environment for students to apply their creativity and knowledge base with hands-on, competitive applications. We’re proud to support this program alongside other leaders in the industry.”
One of the first five universities to offer engineering instruction in the nation, The University of Alabama created its Crimson Racing team to take part in Formula SAE competitions. Battling universities from across the globe, the team of university undergraduate and graduate students conceives, designs, fabricates, develops, and competes with small, formula-style vehicles. Not only do team members apply engineering skills and compete in events, but they also learn about design principles and the effort required to generate a high-quality product.
Through generous sponsorship, Orbweaver and other industry leaders fund supplies and parts for the Crimson Racing car, investing in the next generation of engineers driven by a common passion.
“We are excited to see the car’s progress and watch these students develop,” Powell says. “Supporting these programs helps define our future as an industry.”
